Geared for middle and high school students, the Youth Orchestra is a months-long program designed to bridge the gap between classical and oral tradition music. This year students will be working with Mike Marshall & Darol Anger, Rushad Eggleston, The Jeremy Kittel Band, and The O’Connor Family Band with Mark O’Connor.
The majority of the youth orchestra is comprised of students from 4 area middle schools. However, this registration option allows single students from anywhere to participate. The size of the orchestra is limited. Students receive written music and mp3s when possible as early as October. Single students are encouraged, but not required, to participate in two pre-festival rehearsals at Roosevelt High School in Seattle. These rehearsals take place on January 20th and February 10th.
On Saturday, February 24th the entire orchestra rehearses under the direction of Bob Phillips from 8:30am-1:30pm at the Hyatt Regency Evergreen Ballroom.
On Sunday, February 25th the orchestra performs at the Hyatt Regency Grand Ballroom stage at 3pm.
This registration option includes a Saturday and Sunday pass to the festival.
