Geared for high school students, the Youth Orchestra is a months-long program designed to bridge the gap between classical and oral tradition music. This year students will be working with Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn, Trio Brasileiro, The Kruger Brothers, and Bala Kouyate & Mike Block.
The majority of the youth orchestra is comprised of students from 3 area high schools. However, this registration option allows single students from anywhere to participate. The size of the orchestra is limited. Students receive written music and mp3s when possible as early as November. Single students are encouraged, but not required, to participate in two pre-festival rehearsals at Roosevelt High School in Seattle.
On Saturday, February 22nd the entire orchestra rehearses under the direction of Bob Phillips from 8:30am-1:30 pm at the Hyatt Regency Evergreen Ballroom.
On Sunday, February 23rd the orchestra performs at the Hyatt Regency Grand Ballroom stage at 3 pm.
This registration option includes a Saturday and Sunday pass to the festival.
